Cologne, 27.05.2022 / The Klett success story began in 1897 when Ernst Klett the Elder took over the "Königliche Hofbuchdruckerei zu Gutenberg" in Stuttgart. 125 years later, what was once a print shop with a billboard institute and a small publishing house has become one of Europe's leading educational companies. The 80 companies in 18 countries include educational media publishers as well as institutions such as daycare centers, schools, and institutes for adult and continuing education.
For all its diversity, the family-owned company remains committed to its mission of education. With its holistic educational offering, Klett aims to create the conditions for people to develop their individual talents and act responsibly within the community. CBS International Business School has been part of the Klett family and this mission for seven years.
On the occasion of its 125th anniversary, the group of companies is once again putting its focus firmly on sustainability: "Becoming climate-neutral together and setting an example for 'education for sustainable development" - this is what the members of the Klett Group have set themselves as their goal for the future in their anniversary year.
At the Klett subsidiary CBS, sustainable studying, living, and researching have been at the top of the agenda for a decade now. As an international management university, it aims to impart not only the necessary knowledge but also values and skills that enable responsible handling of economic and ecological challenges in a global context. "As for tomorrow's specialists and managers, our graduates are ideally trained to establish sustainability in companies and to lead them responsibly," says President Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Fröhlich.
In addition, CBS also sees itself as a company with responsibility and sets a good example. For example, the Cologne campus has been able to adorn itself with the label "climate-neutral university" of the consulting and certification company "ClimatePartner" since last year. For the Mainz campus, the process was successfully carried out in the Klett anniversary year and, with the fresh certification, pays directly towards the group's formulated sustainability goal.
For the certification, "ClimatePartner" evaluates the carbon footprint with a view to employee mobility, business travel, procurement (paper consumption), and facility management (heat, electricity, and refrigerant use). On the way to becoming a climate-neutral campus, the CBS has, among other things, switched completely to recycled paper and digital homework and final papers, introduced a re-cup system in the cafeteria, purchased an electric car with charging stations, and uses only green electricity. CBS offsets emissions that cannot currently be avoided by supporting the regional climate protection project "Co2 Offset and Tree Planting" and the "Social Impact" project in India. The latter is used as a substitute for last year's "Clean Drinking Water" project and includes one or more technologies that create social added value in addition to climate protection, such as efficient cooking pots, drinking water purification, or solar-powered light sources.
Perspective students can track our climate neutrality in the ClimatePartner ID tracking via our "climate neutral company" label and the ID number 15875-2105-1001: www.climatepartner.com/15875-2105-1001
