Cooperations with renowned partner companies
As a business school, CBS International Business School offers various MBA courses. An MBA degree is intended to enable as many students as possible to expand their business management expertise - even if they have not previously completed a business studies degree. For this reason, business studies contents are covered holistically within the MBA course
With this focus, the MBA degree is primarily aimed at people who already have relevant professional experience. With a Master of Business Administration, they can qualify themselves for high management positions. The CBS MBA study programmes therefore place special emphasis on practical relevance in order for students to be able to come into direct contact with regional or international companies. Discover the various MBA programmes at the CBS and learn all about the Master of Business Administration.
With an MBA programme, students acquire the academic degree of Master of Business Administration. This special management degree programme is general in nature and is not divided into individual subject areas. An MBA programme covers the entire spectrum of business administration. This distinguishes the Master of Business Administration from other consecutive Master's degrees, such as the Master of Arts or Master of Science.
The MBA courses at the CBS are ideally suited for graduates of non-business studies courses who have already gained initial experience in professional life. With an MBA course, they expand their sound business management knowledge and qualify for higher management positions.
Even people who already have a degree in the economic sciences can specifically deepen their specialist knowledge with the Master of Business Administration. They also benefit from the numerous interdisciplinary qualification opportunities.
The focus of the various MBA programmes is the combination of professional practice and theoretical knowledge. As this is not a consecutive Master's degree, the content focus is not only on the main subject of the basic studies. Rather, an MBA programme provides interdisciplinary additional qualifications for prospective managers in all industries.
The area of management is comprehensively covered within the Master of Business Administration:
Accounting
Finances
Marketing
Operational Management
Information Management
Law
Personnel Management
In addition to this specialist orientation, MBA programmes pursue the goal of supporting students in developing a leadership personality. The focus here is on the following:
Leadership behaviour
Decision making
Teamwork
Entrepreneurial potential
Negotiation skills
Communication
Presentation techniques
There are three formal admission requirements for an MBA programme at the CBS:
A first academic degree - this does not have to be in a business studies subject. Graduates from other degree programmes are expressly desired in the MBA programme.
First practical work experience
Proof of sufficient knowledge of English
In addition, interested students should bring personal qualities with which they can master the challenges of studying business studies. These include above all discipline, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure. In addition, there should be a fundamental interest in economic and financial topics.
MBA programmes have existed in Germany since the 1990s. Previously, an MBA title in Germany could only be gained in cooperation with foreign universities. The first Master of Business Administration was developed in the USA and later in Great Britain. Today, an MBA title is an internationally recognised degree and is taught in variously oriented MBA programmes. These differ in structure and time model.
MBA programmes in Germany are largely offered by universities of applied sciences. With their regional business cooperations, and an already strong practical orientation, these offer the best conditions. In international comparison, there are more specialised MBA programmes to be found in German universities than generalist ones. The CBS therefore also offers a Master of Business Administration with a focus on International Management.
The combination of economic and interdisciplinary content is not unusual for a business studies programme. Since it is mainly people with professional experience who are aiming for an MBA title, another aspect is of primary importance: the network idea. Professionals from a wide range of industries come together here.
This networking effect in particular makes an MBA degree an influential career booster. As a result, many graduates successfully enter new jobs or industries and significantly improve their salary through their higher qualifications.
