Student Life
With the start of the summer semester for full-time students at the Cologne campus, around 170 new students begin their studies at the CBS. To kick off the introductory week, the prospective students and their families were welcomed at the "KölnSky" event location.
Above the rooftops of Cologne and with an amazing view of the Cologne skyline, the evening began with a speech by CBS President Prof. Dr. Anja Karlshaus, who gave an outlook to the future of the prospective students: "When we say that we support you in your academic training, this means above all that we would like to train you to become competent and responsible decision-makers who take their role in society seriously and find solutions for the economic problems of our time.
The insight of alumnus Tobias Roth, who works as a marketing manager at Kramer & Crew and who already appreciated the diverse range of oppotunities at the CBS during his studies, showed how things can continue at the CBS: "At the CBS, it depends on what you make of it. You really have a lot of possibilities: Not only do you benefit from a rhetorical education and very good lectures, but you also become part of a network of students and CBS alumni."
Finally, Deputy Mayor Andreas Wolter greeted the students to the city of Cologne and highlighted the numerous academic and leisure opportunities that the city offers. He emphasized the possibility of combining a great education experience with a vibrant social life in Cologne.
The support of the city, cooperation partners and the entire university is thus assured without further ado - we wish our Freshmen a great start to their studies and are already looking forward to an inspiring exchange on campus!
I would also maybe change this paragraph a bit into: With the goal of bringing together committed companies and interested students to have a discussion about sustainability, four partners from CBS joined forces with two cooperating schools: 25 students from Nelly-Sachs-Gymnasium and Gesamtschule Norf were given the chance to meet and interact with representatives from Mitsubishi Chemicals, Medtronic, QVC, and Expeditors at Hammer Landstraße.
"Basically, the point is that we bring together schools and companies interested in sustainability here for the Rhine District of Neuss," is how Sven Hardersen, the Campus Neuss site manager, sums up the event.
After a round of introductions, in which the four companies were able to present their work on the topic of sustainability, the students worked in small groups on their questions about dual studies as a career entry in connection with the topics of sustainability and climate protection. This led to a lively exchange on the topics of life cycle assessments, green teams in logistics, sustainability of medical products or sustainable purchasing.
For the students, the exchange provided a practical insight into the work of the different companies and gave each of them an answer as to how they can shape their future Career with an interest in sustainability and climate protection. For the various stakeholders, one thing is certain: this was a really successful event that will definitely take place more often in the future!
