Cologne, 26.4.2021 / The Science Council of the Federal Republic of Germany has successfully re-accredited CBS International Business School. In the course of institutional accreditation, the most important advisory body for science policy in Germany examines whether a university provides teaching and research services in accordance with recognised scientific standards. In a multi-stage procedure, the experts convinced themselves of the very high quality of the private university CBS with its campuses in Cologne, Mainz and Potsdam. On 26th April, the Science Council awarded the reaccreditation for an initial period of five years. If the CBS fulfills the stipulated requirement, this will be valid for the maximum achievable period of ten years in total.
"The result of the reaccreditation is a top success for our university. We will promptly implement the set requirement and look forward to being able to carry this high-quality award for another ten years. Apart from ensuring transparency and helping to compare education providers it is a guarantee to students that they have chosen the right university," says CBS President Prof. Dr. habil. Elisabeth Fröhlich.
The Science Council emphasises that the CBS has successfully developed as an internationally oriented business school since its initial institutional accreditation in 2015. CBS has a clearly defined, sustainable, and convincingly implemented profile, which is characterised by a many practical elements as well as pronounced internationality and interculturality. In addition, good staffing makes it possible to offer numerous services that represent great added value due to the high diversity of the student body. Accordingly, the students feel very well looked after at the university, according to the Science Council in its statement.
Through diverse practical business projects and business games, the CBS study programmes ensure a direct link between theory and practice. In addition to a compulsory internship in many full-time study programmes, some Master's programmes also offer the opportunity to complete a practical semester. The international focus of the CBS is not only reflected in the diverse composition of students and lecturers from different countries, but also in the study programmes themselves. Many programmes are offered entirely in English and their content is geared towards the international business market. Language courses as well as soft skills courses, e.g. on intercultural communication, are available to all students. In the Code of Conduct, the university commits itself to a safe learning and teaching environment for all staff, teachers, and students - regardless of personal characteristics.
"We are proud of the CBS family, which is very internationally positioned and oriented. This institutional accreditation proves what students, staff and teachers have experienced on a daily basis for many years: CBS offers a practically oriented, internationally oriented and personal study programme for all those who would like to help shape the world of tomorrow," CBS Managing Director Prof. Dr. Christoph Willers is pleased about the result of the accreditation.
In addition to the institutional accreditation by the Science Council, the CBS International Business School has also been awarded state recognition by the Ministry of Science of North Rhine-Westphalia. The quality of all Bachelor's and Master's degree courses is confirmed by the accreditation of the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). In addition, the CBS study programmes have held the internationally renowned accreditation of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) since 2018. This international distinction was awarded to a German university for the first time in 2018. The IACBE assessment includes constant quality controls and is valid for seven years without conditions. CBS has all new accreditations as well as reaccreditations of existing study programmes carried out by the FIBAA Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). This ensures that a study programme is only started after it has been individually checked for quality and studyability and a quality seal has been awarded.
