The Sustainability, Leadership and Supply Chain Management cluster focuses on sustainability, leadership and supply chain management. This includes the introduction of environmentally friendly practices in corporate strategies, the development of effective leadership strategies and the optimization of processes along the supply chain.
Project participant: Prof. Dr. Anja Karlshaus
As part of the "Part-time leadership" research project, the website (www.teilzeitfuehrung.info) was revised and updated in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Boris Kaehler (Merseburg University of Applied Sciences), a series of guest lectures were held and training courses and workshops were held (including Boehringer Ingelheim, Bonn Rhein-Sieg Competence Center, IHK, City of Cologne, Cologne alliance company "Mit Frauen in Führung", LVR, CommonPurpose, Mannheim University of Applied Sciences).
At the end of 2022, a second, significantly revised and expanded edition of the book project "Teilzeitführung" was published with around 25 articles, for which data has been collected since 2019. The contributions were received from other scientific institutes and institutions, such as the University of Hanover/IIA (Institute for Interdisciplinary Work Sciences), the University of Münster/FFP (Research Center for Family-Conscious Personnel Policy), the University of Zurich, IW (Institute of the German Economy), WZB (Berlin Social Science Center), DZA (German Centre of Gerontology), Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, TH Lübeck, Helmut Schmidt University Hambur/ IPA (Institute for Personnel and Work), DFK, as well as from a number of well-known companies such as Daimler, Deutsche Bahn. Boehringer Ingelheim, BNP Paribas, Beiersdorf, HUK Coburg, EAF, City of Cologne, Barmenia, TUI, Roche, etc.
As part of the research on the topic of "part-time management", the main focus was on analyzing the challenges and opportunities that arise from new flexible and time-reduced working models, including in the management sector. A particular focus was placed on linking part-time work with concepts such as "gender diversity", "compatibility", "sustainability" and "new work". Aspects of personnel and career development were also explicitly examined for various part-time management models.
Results were presented in specialist lectures, discussed in articles, interviews and podcasts and published as an edited volume. The research results were also incorporated into a podcast publication format "Voices of Next Generation HR", in which highly topical pilot projects of new and innovative HR work are discussed by company representatives with students and are also discussed in person at least once a year in the form of HR conferences. Some of these "Next Generation HR" podcasts were developed, discussed and evaluated together with students as part of the HR Master's course "HR Innovation Café".
Project participant: Prof. Dr. Bernd Wallraff
How are teams successfully led through extreme situations? This was evaluated using the example of the hibernators at the German Antarctic research station Neumayer III. These teams have to function successfully for many months in isolation and under extreme conditions. Qualitative interviews were conducted with station managers and other participants from several Antarctic expeditions. The experiences gained from this are to be transferred to the everyday life of companies.
Cooperation partner in this project: Günter Kamb (KLARTEXT Beratung), systemic organizational consultant and coach with a focus on team development and conflict management. Since 2015, he has been training and supporting the wintering teams at the German research site in the Antarctic Neumayer Station III for the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).
