BNE Kompetenztag 2025

CBS University of Applied Sciences and Klett Kita & Schule invite participants to the 4th BNE Competence Day in Berlin

Cologne/Berlin, 9 May 2025 – On 14 and 15 May 2025, Berlin-Köpenick will become the meeting point for sustainability advocates within the Klett Group. CBS University of Applied Sciences (formerly EUFH – University of Applied Sciences for Health | Social Work | Education) and Klett Kita & Schule are jointly hosting the fourth BNE Competence Day.

This year’s event will centre on a key question: How effective is Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within educational institutions – from nurseries to universities?

Wide-ranging perspectives: from early childhood to higher education

Numerous representatives from nurseries, schools, universities, and publishing houses in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, and Brazil will present current projects and engage in discussions on the progress made in ESD, as well as on future opportunities yet to be harnessed.

Impactful keynotes: Climate education and optimism

A particular highlight is the keynote by Leonie Liekefett, educational psychologist and chair of Klimabildung e.V., who will address the question “Is it working?” Her organisation develops innovative educational formats for schools and universities, aiming to empower young people to actively shape the future.

Also taking to the stage is Rebecca Freitag, keynote speaker and expert on social transformation, with her talk entitled “Feeling a bit of hope?”. She will explore how optimism can be maintained even through slow and difficult change processes – offering participants a new perspective to inspire courage and motivation.

Networking, dialogue, and shared insights

The conference will also host the second in-person meeting of the Klett Group’s ESD Ambassadors, who will share their experiences and strengthen their network. Their common goal: to develop viable concepts for sustainable education, driven by a firm commitment to actively shape change.

The full programme is available [here].
