The overall objective of this course is to provide students with possibility of applying their business knowledge on concrete business situation (real or scenario-based), related to the field of their specialization. By the end of the module students should be able to:

You will spend the fifth semester at one of our numerous partner universities abroad. Our International Office supports you in the selection & application process and coordinates the courses to be taken abroad with you in advance.

Bachelor Thesis12 ECTS ? !

During your 6th semester you are working on your Bachelor thesis. You have 12 weeks to complete your thesis and the subject is freely selectible. A supervisor from CBS will support you and you can write the thesis in collaboration with a company as well.

Bachelor Thesis Tutorial1 ECTS ? !

During the Bachelor Thesis Tutorial you will learn the fundamentals for your Bachelor thesis: Defining the topic as well as structuring the thesis and you will learn the theoretical knowledge for scientific working.

Ethical Aspects of Finance3 ECTS ? !

This course focuses on basic ethical concepts and how they might be applied in the world of Financial Management. The course starts with four basic questions:

  • What is ethical behaviour?” – “Why is Business Ethics important for Financial Management?

  • What has been done so far to integrate Business Ethics into Financial Management? and –

  • What can be done to integrate Business Ethics into Financial Management more effectively in the future?

On the basis of these questions several instruments and projects in Financial Management will be studied, discussed and analysed.

Strategic Management in Banking & Finance3 ECTS ? !

The course on Strategic Banking and finance examines how banking institutions act in the financial markets (such as those for credit, investments, bonds, stocks, foreign exchange). It covers important topics in bank management ranging from foreign exchange markets, derivatives, country risk analysis, and asset-liability management to banking strategies. It provides theoretical and practical education to help students conduct complex business activities in the area of corporate finance and international financial management. After completing the course the student will be able to:

  • Describe the functions of commercial banking institutions as well as other financial service providers such as investment banking firms, security brokers and dealers, insurance companies and other non-depository organizations.

  • Explain how commercial banks operate.

  • Describe the importance of risk management in their operations, including how they compete in the market place with other financial service providers.

  • Analyze financial institutions in terms of risk identification, risk measurement and control and the effect of risk on profitability and growth.

  • Learn the basics of financial institution management, including: analysis of their financial statements; asset and liability management; capital management; product development; and strategic and profit planning processes.

  • Understand why a balance must be achieved among liquidity, risk assumption, and profitability.

Business Simulation Game4 ECTS ? !

In a business simulation game participants have to manage their own virtual company which operates in the same market as other participant-operated competitors. This involves making typical management decisions in realistic environments. Beside the deepening and active examination of subject-specific knowledge the simulation games also include the team environment, where interaction, communication and prioritization are of paramount importance. Participants learn how to manage risk and uncertainty while time is limited and information constrained. Group-reflections help to take over different perspectives and to discuss pros and cons of content- as well as behaviour-related actions.

Die Weltfinanzkrise hat eindrucksvoll gezeigt, wie global vernetzt und hochgradig komplex die Finanzwelt heute ist.
