Rankings

The university tests implemented by independent organisations are also an important indicator of the quality of a university and they are then summarised in rankings, providing a precise overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the universities and their position in a direct regional comparison. In the Centre for Higher Education Development‘s (CHE ‘s) ranking, the CBS also achieved top marks, including the best results amongst the Cologne universities.

The Cologne Business School was founded in 1993 and is one of the first universities which offered Bachelor of Arts degree courses in Germany. We educate multinational students in a practice-related, cross-cultural and multilingual manner. Items which first became compulsory for the entire European university landscape in 1997 as a result of the Bologna Process and had to be implemented by 2010 had already been implemented years in advance by the CBS.

Accreditation

If you are interested in a private degree course, you will find a wide-ranging offer of private universities of applied science and universities. However, you will then ask yourself whether each of these offers is suitable for you and whether you will really be ideally prepared for your career. As a state-recognised university, the Cologne Business School can present you several quality certificates and seals of approval for their degree courses:

I-State recognition
The state recognition of a university can always only be awarded by the Ministry of Science of the federal state where the university has its headquarters. According to Article 72 III no. of the Grundgesetz [Basic German Law], the states are equipped with the exclusive legislative competence for the area of higher education. § 72 HG NRW [Higher Education Law for North Rhine-Westphalia] clarifies that non-state educational institutions can also be recognised as universities or universities of applied science under certain circumstances. The Cologne Business School is state-recognised by the Ministry for Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

II-Accreditation by the FIBAA
In connection with the internationalisation of German higher education and the introduction of the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts structure, it was agreed that accreditations will be introduced in addition to state supervision. The FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation), which has accredited all six of the Cologne Business School's degree courses, is one of the few agencies which have been granted permission to award the quality standard.
